Displacement continues to affect households in eastern DRC. In June 2026, a significant number of households were newly displaced, while others returned to their homes. The regions of South Kivu and Maniema saw the largest movements.
North Kivu experienced a notable increase in new displacement, particularly in areas such as Masisi and Walikale. Ituri also saw a substantial number of newly displaced households, as well as the return of many households to Djugu. Further details on the displacement and its causes are available from the Congo: Monthly Displacement Report for June 2026.
The report notes that armed conflict and abuses against civilians are driving the displacement, putting pressure on local resources and humanitarian access.
