Cereal production is estimated to be above average for the 2026 main crops. This follows above-average cereal production in 2025. Harvesting of the main maize and paddy crops concluded in April and July, respectively.

Average to above-average precipitation during the rainy season supported planting and crop development. Rice prices in July 2026 were lower than the elevated levels of the previous year. Cereal import requirements for the 2026/27 marketing year are forecast to be close to average.
