Armed conflict, banditry, and disease outbreaks have deepened humanitarian needs. 9 million in one region and significant numbers displaced in other areas. Efforts to address these needs have included treating children with severe acute malnutrition, with high cure rates achieved.

UNICEF and partners have also worked to provide emergency primary health care and improve sanitation. This has benefited thousands of people, including women, children, and adolescents. Additionally, a polio vaccination campaign reached millions of children.

Further details on the humanitarian situation and response efforts are available from the UNICEF Nigeria Humanitarian Situation Report.
