The theme of this year's World First Aid Day is first aid in migratory contexts. People on the move can face dangers throughout their journey, and first aid can make a difference between life and death. A significant number of people are affected, with around 304 million international migrants worldwide as of mid-2024, making up 3.7% of the global population.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies uses a broad definition of the term "migrants" to account for the full range of humanitarian needs, including asylum seekers, refugees, and people displaced for various reasons.
