Climate-related hazards have significantly impacted education worldwide. Over 171 million students experienced disruptions to their education in 2025 due to such hazards. A report analyzing data from 106 countries or territories found that climate-related events led to various issues, including class suspensions and school damage.
These events also resulted in the implementation of remote learning, reduced school hours, and decreased attendance. Furthermore, they increased the risk of students dropping out of school. The report provides more information on the effects of climate-related hazards on education, highlighting the severity of the issue for millions of students globally.
