Security in eastern Chad remains stable but fragile. Recent clashes in Sudan's Kulbus region have led to an influx of new arrivals in Chad's Koulbous and Birak areas. An evaluation mission has identified around 3,000 people in need of assistance in these areas.

The UN refugee agency and its partners are preparing to launch a pre-registration operation for asylum seekers. This operation is expected to start soon and will aim to improve identification and relocation of refugees, as well as plan humanitarian assistance. Further details on the situation and the response efforts are available from ReliefWeb.
