Communities that were already vulnerable have been severely impacted. A significant amount of debris, estimated at 2.2 million tonnes, has been dispersed throughout the affected areas. The full extent of the damage can be found in the Rapid Assessment and Analysis report.

A glacial collapse is believed to have triggered a flash flood, resulting in substantial loss of life and destruction of infrastructure. Over 1,000 people have been reported dead and many more are missing. Rescue efforts have saved a total of 10,451 people to date.
