Food costs in the area have been rising. By early July, the average cost of a food basket was 20 percent higher than it was in late February. In June, this cost increased by 2 percent from the previous month.

The main reason for these higher costs is the price of key food items. Transportation costs are also a factor, driven by fuel shortages. Diesel prices, although declining, remain higher than before the crisis.
